How do I create a link to another page?

If you have more than one page for your site, or you want to link to another site, you'll need to create a hyperlink. Hyperlinks can use either text or a graphic that can be clicked on.

To create a hyperlink, select the text or graphic you want visitors to click on. A menu or window should become visible with hyperlink properties. Thes properties can also be found in the menus of other programs. In the link box, type in the URL of the page you wish to link to. Be sure to include the http:// at the beginning. If the link is part of your own site, some programs allow you to choose the actual page file rather than typing the link manually.

Once you have pointed the link to another page, choose how you want it to open. For links within your own site, choose "_top" as the target so the page will open in the same window in place of the current page. For links to other sites, you may wish to choose "_blank" as the target so your site will still be open if the visitor wants to come back to it. You can also choose this option for opening documents or photos. However, depending upon the content, you may wish to have the new page open in the same window.

You can also add title or tool tip information which will show up when a visitor hovers over the link. These will either pop up a small box with a bit of information about the link or display a message at the bottom of the page window.
