How do I search for files on my computer's hard drive?

Have you ever lost a file or document you saved on your hard drive? Has a program ever saved a file somewhere other than where you thought it did? If so, the search function is your friend.

To search a drive, right-click on it and choose "Search" from the pop-up menu that appears. Enter in a file name (or part of one) or another search term and, if it exists, the computer should find it.

Another option is to go to the Start Menu and choose "Search". Be sure to specify a drive to search using this method. If you have trouble finding your file, double check your search terms to be sure you have them correct. Also, try some of the other search options if a name search fails.
