Should I purchase a desktop or laptop computer?
Once you've decided what operating system you want to use, it's time to decide between a laptop and a desktop system. Which type depends on how you work.

Consider a laptop if...

- You need to use your computer both at home and at school, work or while you travel.
- You don't have a lot of space.
- You like to work while sitting in your favorite living room chair or in bed.
- You don't need the fastest hardware or a huge hard drive.
- You're willing to spend as much as double the cost of a similar desktop system.

Consider a desktop system if...

- Money is tight.
- You don't need to take your computer anywhere.
- You want to edit video or play the latest 3D games.
- Space isn't an issue.
- You want maximum expandability of hardware.

Once you figure out what you need, you'll be able to choose which type of system fits you best. People often choose a laptop when they never move it off their desktop. That's fine if that fits your budget, but you can get much more computer for your money with a desktop system.
