Can I use satellite television in my car or RV?
Satellite offers one really great advantage over cable: You can take it with you. There are various equipment options that allow you to view satellite TV in your car or RV.

Portable dishes have come a long way from the older manual units (which are still available). Newer motorized units enclose the dish in a flat device that looks somewhat like a boogie board on your roof. The dish inside the enclosure rotates automatically as your vehicle turns to keep the satellite in sight.

Satellite receivers can work of car power with either a DC adapter or an DC power inverter.

One note: If you travel too far out of your home area, you won't get your local channels. This is because they are only sent to your area of the country using a technology known as "Spot Beaming". This allows the satellite company to re-use frequencies for different parts of the country. As a result, your local channels will disappear when you stray out of your spot beam.
